A citizen of Ecuador, Stanlin Daniel Vasquez-Salinas, also known as “Stalin Vasquez-Salinas” and “Stalin Vasquez,” has pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a removed alien in federal court in New Haven. The announcement was made by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Court documents indicate that on March 11, 2025, Danbury Police arrested Vasquez-Salinas and charged him with conspiracy to commit commercial sexual abuse of a minor between the ages of 15 and 17 years old. At the time of his arrest, he identified himself as “Stalin D. Vasquez.” Authorities later confirmed his true identity through fingerprint analysis.

Investigators determined that Vasquez-Salinas had entered the United States illegally in December 2019 and was previously apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol in Texas before being removed to Ecuador in May 2020.

After being released from state custody on bond on March 14, 2025, Vasquez-Salinas was taken into ICE custody following a brief vehicle chase and foot pursuit. He has remained detained since then. His state charges are still pending.

At sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled, Vasquez-Salinas faces up to two years in prison.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is prosecuting the case.

U.S. Attorney Sullivan expressed appreciation for the cooperation received from the State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Danbury during the investigation and prosecution.

"This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."
