Rhode Island man pleads guilty to methamphetamine distribution charges in Boston federal court

Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice

A Rhode Island resident has pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to charges related to methamphetamine possession and distribution. Star Sirikhom, 38, admitted to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as one count of possession with intent to distribute the same amount. U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young set sentencing for November 19, 2025.

Sirikhom was indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2022 along with five others. The case stems from a 2019 investigation into a Colombia-based money laundering group that handled drug proceeds for various trafficking organizations. Authorities conducted surveillance on a suspected stash house where individuals were seen carrying weighted bags and containers in and out of the location.

In June 2021, law enforcement observed Sirikhom entering the stash house with a black backpack and leaving minutes later with the same bag, which appeared heavier. After stopping his vehicle, officers found over six kilograms of orange pills containing methamphetamine inside the backpack.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years and up to life in prison, at least five years of supervised release, and fines up to $10 million. Sentencing will be determined according to federal guidelines.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Jarod A. Forget, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England Field Division, announced the plea. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Sullivan is prosecuting the case.

The prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which focuses on dismantling major criminal organizations through coordinated efforts across agencies. More information about OCDETF can be found at https://www.justice.gov/OCDETF.
