A Honduran national living in Lynn, Massachusetts, has been sentenced to seven months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. Douglas Mejia-Romero, 45, received the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Myong J. Joun in Boston federal court. After serving his prison term, Mejia-Romero will be subject to two years of supervised release and is set to be deported.
Mejia-Romero pleaded guilty in May 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Authorities said that he was previously deported on May 15, 2020, but later returned to the United States without authorization. Records show that between 2008 and 2020, Mejia-Romero was removed from the country five times and unlawfully reentered each time.
This marks his third conviction for illegal reentry. In May 2015, Mejia-Romero was convicted in New Hampshire and sentenced to nine months in prison followed by two years of supervised release. He was again convicted in April 2020 in Texas federal court and received a six-month prison sentence.
