A federal grand jury in Boston has indicted Eddy Rafael Matos-Lara, a 35-year-old Dominican national, on charges of forcibly resisting arrest by federal officers during an immigration-related incident.
According to the indictment, the alleged incident occurred on June 16, 2025. Authorities state that Matos-Lara "forcibly assaulted, resisted, opposed, impeded, intimidated, or interfered with federal officers while the agents were engaged the performance of their official duties."
If convicted of forcibly assaulting or resisting federal officers performing their duties, Matos-Lara faces up to eight years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and applicable statutes.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England. Assistant U.S. Attorney David G. Tobin from the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
"The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," officials stated.
