The Energy Alliance has launched a national advertising campaign urging the Trump administration to support American investors involved in a legal dispute with Argentina over the nationalization of YPF, Argentina's largest energy company. In 2012, Argentina's government, led by then-President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, took control of YPF, allegedly violating its obligations to shareholders and affecting American investors.
The advertisement states: "Americans are being forced to fight in court because Argentina cheated ‘em, and they think they can get away with it." It suggests that Pam Bondi could assist in ensuring Americans receive what they are owed and emphasizes President Trump's "America First" policy.
Bill Peacock, policy director of the Energy Alliance, commented on the situation: "This is exactly the kind of case where American leadership is needed. When Argentina refused to honor its agreement with U.S. investors, it put Americans’ pension funds and retirement accounts at risk."
The case is currently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which will hear arguments later this year. The Energy Alliance operates under the Texas Business Coalition and focuses on key energy market issues such as reliability and affordability.
