During the week of September 6 to September 12, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 215 individuals with immigration-related crimes. Of these, 99 cases involved illegal re-entry into the United States and another 99 cases were for illegal entry. Authorities also filed charges in 14 cases against 16 people accused of smuggling undocumented immigrants within Arizona. One person was charged with assaulting a federal officer.
The enforcement actions were supported by several federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Recent cases highlighted by prosecutors include:
United States v. Isaia David Ralph Gutierrez, et al.: On September 10, Isaia David Ralph Gutierrez and Shay Nicole Fernandez were charged with Transportation of an Illegal Alien after being stopped by a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy for traffic violations. The deputy found a person wearing camouflage lying on the floorboard in the back seat and suspected human smuggling. U.S. Border Patrol agents determined that the passenger was a Mexican citizen unlawfully present in the country.
United States v. Robin Estuardo Perez Ramos: On September 11, Robin Estuardo Perez Ramos was charged with Assault on a Federal Officer after he allegedly fled from ICE/ERO agents who attempted to stop him during surveillance operations. According to authorities, Perez Ramos reversed his vehicle into an ICE officer's car before fleeing again and later abandoned his vehicle at an apartment complex where he entered a stranger's residence before being taken into custody.
United States v. Jose Eulice Arrendondo-Duran: On September 8, Jose Eulice Arredondo-Duran was charged with Re-entry of a Removed Alien after previously being deported following felony convictions for conspiracy to violate drug laws and methamphetamine trafficking in Nevada.
These prosecutions are part of Operation Take Back America—a national effort led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling criminal organizations through coordinated use of resources from Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).
According to officials, "A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
