A federal grand jury has indicted Michael Antwohn Wilson, 38, of Tampa, on charges related to the production and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to the announcement from United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, Wilson faces up to 80 years in federal prison if convicted on all counts.
The indictment alleges that Wilson produced and attempted to produce CSAM on April 27 and February 23, 2023, within the Middle District of Florida. It further states that he possessed such material, including images involving minors under the age of 12, from an unknown date until June 26, 2025. Authorities also intend to forfeit a camera, cellphone, and SD cards believed to have been used in committing these offenses.
"An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty," according to the statement.
The investigation was conducted by the Tampa Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI. Assistant United States Attorney Ilyssa M. Spergel will prosecute the case.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by prosecuting offenders and rescuing victims.
