A Colorado man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, following his arrest during a traffic stop in Warren County, Mississippi.
According to court documents, Erick Moreno, 44, was found with a firearm while on federal supervised release for a prior conviction of the same offense. Federal and state laws prohibit individuals with felony convictions from owning or possessing firearms.
Moreno was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 10, 2024. He entered a guilty plea on June 10, 2025.

The case was investigated by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amber Jones prosecuted the case.
