U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested several individuals across the United States who are convicted of sexual crimes against children. According to ICE, these individuals are foreign nationals residing in the country without legal status.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “Criminal illegal aliens who sexually abuse children represent the very worst of humanity. These disgusting predators are convicted of sexually abusing a child under 14, lewd and lascivious acts with a child, and endangering the welfare of a child related to sex abuse. These criminals preyed on our innocent children, but thanks to our brave ICE law enforcement officers, they’re off our streets and will never be allowed again to prey on American children.”
Among those arrested was Jose Mario Cervantes-Luna from Mexico, who was convicted in Harris County, Texas for sexual assault of a child under 14. Another individual, Javier Zuniga—also from Mexico—was convicted in Plymouth, Massachusetts for rape of a child with a ten-year age difference and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Other arrests included Hector Perez-Urias from Guatemala for lewd or lascivious acts with a child in San Bernardino, California; Gilberto Ramos-Agustine from Guatemala for endangering the welfare of a child related to sex abuse in Kent, New York; and Hermilo Martinez from Mexico for sexual battery in Franklin County, North Carolina.
ICE indicated that it will continue focusing its efforts on apprehending individuals with violent criminal histories who pose risks to public safety.
