Oklahoma City man receives nine-year sentence for drug trafficking and illegal weapons

Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma

Keith Terrell Thompson, a 27-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for his involvement in a firearms trafficking conspiracy and for illegal possession of drugs and weapons. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

According to court records, the Oklahoma City Police Department executed a search warrant at Thompson’s home on January 17, 2024. Officers found several firearms, controlled substances including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, $9,965 in cash, and a machinegun conversion device (MCD). These devices are used to convert semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic machineguns and are prohibited under federal law.

Thompson was arrested by police on January 29, 2024 at another apartment. During this operation, officers recovered two stolen firearms, more controlled substances, and over $10,000 in cash.

On March 11, 2025, Thompson was charged with multiple offenses including firearms trafficking conspiracy and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. He pleaded guilty on March 20, admitting that he conspired to traffic firearms; knowingly possessed cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to distribute; possessed a firearm during drug distribution; and unlawfully possessed an MCD.

At the sentencing hearing held on September 25, Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti imposed the sentence of nine years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Judge DeGiusti commented on "the seriousness of these offenses."

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew E. Davis prosecuted the case.
