Michael Jason Sanders, a 44-year-old resident of Pryor, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The offense carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to the indictment, Sanders knowingly possessed two semi-automatic pistols and 96 rounds of ammunition on May 5, 2025. He had previously been convicted of an offense punishable by more than one year in prison.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
“The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.”
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Sanders’ sentence after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory considerations.
Sanders is currently held by the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
