Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah to discuss the security and economic partnership between the United States and Kuwait. The meeting addressed ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, as well as current regional issues.
According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, "The Secretary and the First Deputy Prime Minister discussed advancing the security and economic partnership between our two countries. They also discussed the unique moment to free the hostages and end the war in Gaza. The Secretary and First Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership of the U.S.-Kuwait relationship and our mutual goal to promote peace and stability in the region."
The discussion comes at a time when both nations are focusing on ways to address conflict in Gaza while reinforcing their longstanding alliance.
