A Portland woman appeared in federal court after being charged with assaulting a federal law enforcement officer near the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in South Portland.
Oriana Korol, 38, faces a felony charge for allegedly assaulting a federal officer. Court documents state that on October 12, 2025, federal officers detained Korol after she interfered with the arrest of another individual. During her detention, Korol reportedly kicked and bit a federal officer. She was subsequently arrested for assaulting a federal officer.
Since June 13, 2025, the United States Attorney’s Office has brought federal charges against 34 individuals for crimes committed at the ICE building. These offenses include assaulting federal officers, failure to comply, and damaging government property.
Korol made her initial court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge and was released under certain conditions while awaiting further court proceedings.
Felony assault of a federal officer carries a maximum penalty of eight years in federal prison.
"A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty," the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated.
