Tim Geitner has been appointed as the new Regional Administrator for the Rocky Mountain Region (Region VIII) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to an announcement by HUD Secretary Scott Turner.
“I’m excited to welcome Tim Geitner to lead the Rocky Mountain Region as we take bold steps to address housing needs and improve the lives of Americans,” said HUD Secretary Scott Turner. “His deep commitment to public service and impactful leadership will help HUD usher in the Golden Age of American homeownership.”
Geitner brings experience from his tenure in the Colorado State House, where he served from 2019 to 2022 and was Assistant Minority Leader at the end of his term. His background also includes active duty service in the U.S. Army, both as an Intelligence Officer at Fort Carson, Colorado, and as an Infantry Officer during a deployment to Afghanistan. He continues his military involvement with service in the U.S. Army Reserve.
“I am deeply honored to serve as HUD's Regional Administrator for the Rocky Mountain Region under the leadership of Secretary Turner. My own experience with homelessness and Section 8 housing as a child, due to my single mother's disability, shaped my understanding of and compassion for our most vulnerable citizens, as well as my love for America,” said Regional Administrator Tim Geitner. “Guided by nearly 20 years of oaths to uphold our Constitution as a soldier and a state legislator, I am excited to use my passion for liberty and self-sufficiency to help foster independence for American families, veterans, and tribes and safeguard important programs that provide our seniors and disabled Americans with security and peace of mind.”
In his new position, Geitner will oversee HUD’s field operations across six states: Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. His responsibilities include supporting initiatives aimed at expanding affordable housing options, promoting community revitalization efforts, and increasing homeownership opportunities throughout rural, tribal, and urban areas within Region VIII.
