Christopher Patterson has been named the new Regional Administrator for the Northwest Region (Region X) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to an announcement from HUD Secretary Scott Turner.
“I’m proud to welcome Chris Patterson back to HUD, where his leadership and deep regional insight will make an immense impact,” said HUD Secretary Scott Turner. “Chris brings a strong sense of purpose and a deep understanding of the Northwest Region’s housing challenges. I’m confident he’ll help drive our mission forward as we expand access to homeownership opportunities for all Americans.”
Patterson previously served in President Trump’s first administration as the Pacific Regional Administrator and was also the National Lead for HUD’s Foster Youth to Independence Initiative. He has more than 25 years of experience in health and human services, including founding BreakThrough Inc., which provides residential youth treatment services, and SteadFast Supported Living Inc., which supports adults with developmental delays in achieving independence.
“It is a great privilege to be appointed a second time as a HUD Regional Administrator, serving the Northwest Region under Secretary Scott Turner,” said Regional Administrator Chris Patterson. “The Northwest is my home, and I am committed to uplifting communities across Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. As a former foster youth now leading the National Foster Youth to Independence Initiative, my passion remains with those who need a hand up, and ensuring that with enough hard work and grit, the American Dream can be achievable for all.”
In his new role, Patterson will oversee field operations in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. He will support efforts to expand affordable housing options, promote community revitalization initiatives, and increase access to homeownership in rural, tribal, and urban areas throughout Region X.
