U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported the arrest of several individuals described as criminal illegal aliens, who were convicted of serious offenses including sexual abuse of children, indecent assault, patronizing a child prostitute, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to ICE, these arrests took place across various states. The agency named five individuals: Obid Abdulkarim Alobid from Syria, convicted for continuous sexual abuse of a child in Santa Clara, California; Carlos Alberto Torres-Arevalo from El Salvador, convicted for two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in Haverhill, Massachusetts; Mohamed Azharuddin Yusuf from Guyana, convicted for patronizing a person for prostitution in the second degree involving a minor under 15 in Albany, New York; Erlin Alessander Rodriguez-Betanco from Honduras, convicted for robbery with bodily injury and unlawful possession of a weapon in Morristown, New Jersey; and Benjamin Barrera-Lopez from Honduras, convicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Tarrant County, Texas.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the arrests: “Yesterday, the brave men and women of ICE arrested child predators, abusers, and violent thugs. Halloween is a little less scary this year with these monsters off American streets,” she said. “Forget ghosts or ghouls—the true horror is the violent criminal illegal aliens, who sanctuary politicians protect, putting the safety of Americans at risk.”
ICE stated that these actions remove individuals they consider dangerous from communities across the country.
