The United States has extended congratulations to the people of the Federated States of Micronesia on the occasion of their 39th anniversary of independence.
In a statement, the U.S. recognized the longstanding partnership between the two countries, which is based on the Compact of Free Association. The message highlighted the shared commitment to a "free, open, resilient, and prosperous Pacific Islands region" and noted that both nations have maintained an enduring friendship since establishing bilateral ties.
"Our long history of working together on security issues and economic development is a testament to the strength of our relationship," according to the statement.
The United States expressed its intention to continue its cooperation with Micronesia and offered congratulations as the country marks its national day.
