The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has announced two upcoming lease sales in the Gulf of America and Alaska’s Cook Inlet. These sales are the first to be announced under requirements set by the House Committee on Natural Resources as part of H.R. 1, known as the Working Families Tax Cuts law, which was passed in July 2025.

House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) responded to the announcement, stating: “The upcoming lease sales announced by the Trump administration, and required by the Working Families Tax Cuts law, will boost American energy production, create thousands of American jobs, and lower energy costs for American families. Republican members of the Resources Committee are committed to working with President Trump to unleash American resources and make energy in America more affordable and reliable.”

The Working Families Tax Cuts law aims to encourage domestic energy production through expanded leasing opportunities for oil, gas, and coal both onshore and offshore. The legislation is intended to support job creation and reduce energy expenses for households across the country.
