A Lebanon, Oregon man appeared in federal court following his arrest for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Jeremy Russell Bodell, 52, faces a criminal complaint charging him with possession of child pornography.

Court documents state that Instagram reported the distribution of a video depicting child pornography to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) on October 4, 2021. The video was shared between the user “Kildrak Fireblade” and another account. NCMEC identified Bodell as the likely subscriber to the phone number associated with this Instagram account.

In September 2025, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) discovered the username “dax” during an investigation into invite-only CSAM trading groups. This username was linked to the same phone number previously identified by NCMEC as belonging to Bodell. According to investigators, “dax” participated in 15 different CSAM trading groups sharing illegal images and videos. Phone records confirmed Bodell’s connection to these accounts.

On November 7, 2025, HSI executed a federal search warrant at Bodell’s home and vehicle. Law enforcement seized his cell phone and found evidence of CSAM, including group memberships on applications such as Telegram and saved images and videos in his gallery.

During an interview with investigators, Bodell stated he had previously been accused of sex abuse. HSI is currently investigating these allegations. After the interview concluded, Bodell was arrested for possession of CSAM.

Bodell made his initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge and was released with conditions pending further proceedings.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Eliza Carmen Rodriguez is prosecuting the case, which is being investigated by HSI.

“A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.”

Federal law defines child pornography as any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor. The press release emphasizes that child sexual abuse material documents actual crimes against children and can cause ongoing harm when distributed online. Additional information about preventing child exploitation can be found at www.missingkids.org.

The case involves Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation by coordinating resources across federal, state, and local agencies. More details about Project Safe Childhood are available at www.justice.gov/psc.
