David E. Dejanovich, 52, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to 28 years (336 months) in federal prison for receipt of child pornography. The sentencing took place on October 1, 2025, before Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach.
Court records show that Dejanovich is a lifetime registrant on the Wisconsin Sexual Offender Registry due to prior convictions in Dodge County for two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child and one count of first degree sexual assault of a child. In addition to his state convictions, Dejanovich was convicted in federal court in 2015 for possession of child pornography and received a sentence of ten years in prison followed by fifteen years of supervised release.
While still serving his term of supervised release from the previous federal conviction, Dejanovich was again found with child pornography after downloading it from the internet.
At sentencing, Judge Griesbach stated that the crime was very serious and emphasized the need for deterrence. The judge also noted Dejanovich’s "disturbing history of abusing children" as an important factor necessitating a significant punishment. Upon completing his prison sentence, Dejanovich will remain under supervised release for life and will continue to be required to register as a sex offender under both state and federal law.
The investigation involved the Oshkosh Police Department and the Green Bay Office of United States Probation and Parole. Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble prosecuted the case.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the U.S. Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
