The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the results of Operation Charlotte’s Web, a weekend immigration enforcement effort in the Charlotte area that led to the arrest of over 130 individuals. The operation targeted what DHS described as "the worst of the worst" among criminal illegal aliens.

According to DHS, 44 of those arrested have criminal records that include offenses such as aggravated assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault on a police officer, battery, driving under the influence, and hit-and-run. Two known gang members were also apprehended during the operation.

A spokesperson for DHS stated: “There is absolutely no excuse to continue allowing criminal illegal aliens to terrorize our American communities. These are violent assailants, gang members, and repeat offenders who have zero regard for the rule of law in our country. They are here illegally and should never have been here in the first place. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are REMOVING the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our communities once and for all.”

Among those named by DHS as having been arrested during Operation Charlotte’s Web are Manuel Vasquez-Gavarrete, identified as a previously deported Honduran national and member of the 18th Street gang; Humberto Pozada-Rodriguez, another previously deported Honduran national described as an MS-13 gang member with multiple convictions including trespassing and public disorderly conduct; Leonel De Jesus Chinchea-Galvan, charged with aggravated assault and driving while intoxicated; Karelia Estefania Torres-Izaguirre, wanted for felony larceny; Yonis Alexander Granado-Arevalo from El Salvador with a bench warrant from Washington D.C.; Luis Osorio-Hernandez from Mexico convicted of possession of stolen goods; Hector Maldonado-Garay convicted on several counts including aggravated assault; Jose Midence Martinez-Mendez convicted of tampering with government documents; Rony Anibal Alvarado-Gonzalez convicted on charges related to driving while intoxicated; Solmer Jose Rivas-Urbina convicted for DUI hit-and-run; and Pedro Osorio-Paredes convicted on multiple counts related to driving while intoxicated.

DHS said these arrests were part of its ongoing efforts to remove individuals it considers threats to public safety from local communities.
