A Dallas man and his son have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
David Valdez, 45, and Abel Valdez, 28, both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Each received a sentence of 324 months in federal prison. Abel Valdez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on October 21, 2025, while David Valdez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant on November 12, 2025.
Court records show that between September 2023 and February 2024, the pair trafficked approximately 80 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine per month into the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The drugs were processed at their residence before being distributed within the community. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the Valdez home on February 8, 2024, discovering 69 kilograms of methamphetamine and eleven semi-automatic weapons.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America. According to the Department of Justice initiative’s stated mission: "Operation Take Back America is a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration – Dallas Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Anderson.
