Jason R. Coody, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida
Malcolm Terrell Louis, a 39-year-old resident of Pensacola, Florida, has pleaded guilty in federal court to several drug and firearms charges. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida, Louis admitted to two counts each of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin stated: “This successful prosecution is the result of the outstanding investigative work by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and our federal law enforcement partners who are committed to ending the flow of drugs and violence plaguing our communities. My office will continue to aggressively prosecute these repeat offenders as we fulfill the promise made by President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi to Take Back America from violent drug traffickers and career criminals who have terrorized our streets for far too long.”
Court documents indicate that in December 2024, law enforcement officers discovered an unattended vehicle left running at a housing complex in Pensacola. Officers observed multiple bags containing narcotics and a firearm inside the vehicle. Fingerprints belonging to Louis were found on both the vehicle and one bag containing methamphetamine and cocaine. Later, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence where Louis was present; they found him in possession of additional narcotics—including methamphetamine and cocaine—and firearms. Officials noted that Louis has multiple prior felony convictions.
Louis faces up to life imprisonment as a result of these charges.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton is prosecuting the case.
Sentencing is set for January 8, 2026, at 10:00am at the United States Courthouse in Pensacola before United States District Judge T. Kent Wetherell II.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice aiming to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect communities from violent crime.
