A Danville man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl. Bryan Eugene Whitehead, 44, pleaded guilty in May 2025 to the distribution charge.
Authorities began investigating Whitehead as a suspected fentanyl distributor in early 2024. The Danville Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) conducted controlled purchases from Whitehead, including an instance where an ounce of fentanyl was bought.
The sentencing took place on October 24. The announcement was made by Robert N. Tracci, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, and Anthony A. Spotswood, Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Division of the ATF.
The investigation involved collaboration between the ATF, Danville Police Department, and Virginia State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Keith Parrella and Matthew Miller prosecuted the case.
