Dubuque woman receives over nine years in prison for methamphetamine conspiracy

Katie Kammerude, a 39-year-old resident of Dubuque, Iowa, was sentenced on November 19, 2025, to more than nine years in federal prison. She pleaded guilty on June 3, 2025, to participating in a conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of a methamphetamine mixture and at least 50 grams of pure methamphetamine.

According to evidence presented during sentencing, Kammerude traveled between July and September 2024 to several cities including Des Moines, Davenport, and Iowa City to obtain large quantities of methamphetamine. She transported the drugs back to Dubuque for distribution. Law enforcement stopped Kammerude’s vehicle three times during this period and discovered methamphetamine each time. The amounts found ranged from several ounces up to a couple of pounds per stop. In total, authorities held her responsible for distributing more than 5,000 grams of methamphetamine.

United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence in Cedar Rapids. Kammerude received a prison term of 109 months followed by five years of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system.
