A Maine resident, Evert Delgado-Menjivar, 31, has been charged with trafficking multiple kilograms of cocaine that were delivered in Rhode Island. Delgado-Menjivar appeared in federal court in Providence on November 18, 2025, following his arrest at his home in Westbrook, Maine on September 9, 2025. He was arraigned on an indictment from the Grand Jury and ordered detained.
According to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom, Delgado-Menjivar faces charges including conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, as well as two counts of distribution of cocaine involving quantities of 500 grams or more.
Court documents indicate that members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) became aware in July 2025 of an individual seeking to sell multi-kilogram amounts of cocaine. In August 2025, a co-defendant allegedly distributed kilogram quantities on behalf of Delgado-Menjivar.
"A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," stated the press release.
The sentence for Delgado-Menjivar will be determined by a federal district judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey A. Erickson is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the DEA.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a national initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations through coordinated efforts from Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods.
