A Saugus resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to participating in a drug trafficking conspiracy involving thousands of counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine and fentanyl.
George Krabey, 47, entered his plea on two counts of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances involving 500 grams or more of methamphetamine; three counts of distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine; one count each of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more and 50 grams or more of methamphetamine; and one count of distributing both methamphetamine and fentanyl. U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley set sentencing for March 4, 2026. Krabey was indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2025.
According to court documents, between December 2024 and April 2025, Krabey met several times with a cooperating source, selling thousands of counterfeit pills containing the illegal substances. On April 22, 2025, law enforcement stopped a vehicle in Danvers where Krabey was a passenger while he was traveling to Salisbury to sell the source an additional 4,000 counterfeit pills. Officers found a shoebox in the back seat holding approximately two kilograms—about 5,296 pills—of methamphetamine.
The offenses carry significant penalties. The charges related to distributing or possessing with intent to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine are punishable by a minimum sentence of ten years and up to life imprisonment, as well as supervised release terms ranging from five years to life and fines up to $10 million. Distribution or possession with intent involving at least 50 grams can result in five to forty years’ imprisonment, four years to life supervised release, and fines up to $5 million. Distributing both methamphetamine and fentanyl carries up to twenty years’ imprisonment, at least three years supervised release up to life, and a fine up to $1 million. Sentencing will be determined according to federal guidelines.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley stated: “United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Jared A. Forget, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Division made the announcement today.” She added that the Massachusetts State Police along with Revere, Saugus and Peabody Police Departments assisted in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel R. Feldman is prosecuting the case.
