A St. Louis man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison following a shooting incident earlier this year. U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey handed down a 71-month sentence to Lamaar Pearson, 37, on Tuesday.
Pearson pleaded guilty in August to being a felon in possession of ammunition. Court documents state that on March 29, 2024, Pearson shot another man twice during an argument, causing injuries to the victim's lower back and hip. Following the incident, officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department recovered a firearm magazine that had been hidden by Pearson as well as ten spent cartridge casings.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski prosecuted the case.
