The Office of Information Policy (OIP) has announced that the Chief FOIA Officers Council will conduct a virtual meeting on Monday, December 15, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Eastern Time.
This meeting is open to all agency Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) professionals as well as members of the public. Attendees must register in advance. The event will also be available via livestream on the National Archives' YouTube channel.
The Chief FOIA Officers Council was established under the FOIA Improvement Act of 2016. Its responsibilities include developing recommendations, sharing best practices, and coordinating initiatives aimed at improving how agencies administer FOIA requests. The Council is co-chaired by the Directors of OIP and the Office of Government Information Services (OGIS), and includes each agency’s Chief FOIA Officer along with the Deputy Director for Management from the Office of Management and Budget.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to address the Council during the meeting. Those with suggestions for future topics or panelists are encouraged to email DOJ.OIP.FOIA@usdoj.gov.
