Three sentenced for drug smuggling scheme at Lincoln County Jail

A former contract employee at the Lincoln County Jail in Missouri was sentenced to 51 months in prison for his involvement in smuggling fentanyl and methamphetamine into the facility. U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey handed down the sentence to Kevin Childers Jr., 38, on Monday.

Childers is one of three individuals who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. The other two defendants, Steven Williamson Jr., 37, and Brittany Spangler, 35, were sentenced earlier this year.

According to court records, Williamson was an inmate and trustee working in the jail kitchen during the offense period. Spangler was identified as his girlfriend. Childers managed the jail kitchen as a contract employee. All three admitted they conspired together to smuggle drugs into the jail between June 27, 2022, and October 6, 2022.

Judge Autrey previously sentenced Williamson to 51 months in prison and Spangler to 37 months.

The FBI and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine Krug prosecuted the case.
