Mescalero man receives over four years in prison for assault

A man from Mescalero was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for assaulting a woman and causing her serious injuries. The sentencing was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison.

Court records state that on June 27, 2024, Myron Edward Blake, Jr., age 40 and an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, attacked Jane Doe using a cinder block and a wooden board. The assault resulted in substantial bodily harm to the victim.

Blake pleaded guilty to one count of assault resulting in substantial bodily injury. After completing his prison term, he will be placed under supervised release for three years. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Silvia Delgado is handling the prosecution.
