Law enforcement agencies have announced that drones will be prohibited in the area surrounding M&T Bank Stadium during the Army-Navy Game scheduled for Saturday, December 13, in Baltimore. The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) will be enforced from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., covering a two-nautical mile radius around the stadium and up to 2,000 feet above ground level.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)–Baltimore Field Office made the announcement, emphasizing public safety concerns associated with drone operations during large events. Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, and Special Agent in Charge Jimmy Paul of the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office highlighted cooperation among federal and local agencies to enforce these restrictions.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for implementing the TFR. Other participating agencies include the Federal Air Marshals Service, Naval Criminal Investigation Service, Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, United States Secret Service, Baltimore Police Department, and Maryland State Police.

“Operating a drone in restricted airspace is dangerous and against the law. An Unmanned Aircraft System operator could lose control of the drone, threatening the safety and lives of those below, or interfere with air operations around the stadium,” Hayes said. “As we have demonstrated in the past by bringing charges where appropriate, the office remains committed to investigating and prosecuting anyone who violates the no-drone zone in effect during the Army-Navy Game at M&T Bank Stadium this weekend.”

“Illegally flying a drone is a safety and security risk to a large crowd,” said Paul. “The FBI is committed to working with our local, state and federal partners to ensure the Army-Navy game remains a special experience for all and to keep everyone safe as they enjoy America’s game.”

Authorities are urging members of the public to report any suspicious activity related to drones or unmanned aircraft systems near M&T Bank Stadium on game day. Law enforcement will monitor airspace violations closely and pursue legal action against violators.

A zero-tolerance policy will apply within this No Drone Zone; individuals attempting unauthorized drone flights may face arrest, prosecution, fines or imprisonment.

Further information about federal regulations regarding unmanned aircraft systems can be found on the FAA website.
