Okemah man pleads guilty to felony assault involving boiling water

Matias Noah Ramirez, a 26-year-old resident of Okemah, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm. The offense carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The indictment states that on August 17, 2025, Ramirez assaulted a victim by throwing boiling water onto the person’s back, resulting in severe burns. The incident took place in Hughes County, within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department, and the Okemah Police Department.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Ramirez’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after consideration of federal sentencing guidelines and other legal factors.

Ramirez will remain in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing is complete.
