Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma
A man from Skiatook, Oklahoma, has been indicted on ten counts after allegedly making threats against federal law enforcement officers. The indictment against Logan Christopher Murfin, 26, was unsealed and includes five counts of threatening to assault and murder federal law enforcement officers with the intent to impede, intimidate, interfere, and retaliate. He also faces five counts of interstate communication with a threat to injure.
Court documents indicate that Murfin posted several statements on social media advocating violence against federal agents. According to the documents, he stated that federal agents should be "gunned down, shot, and executed." Murfin is also alleged to have encouraged others to stay armed and kill agents on sight because "the agents don’t deserve to live."
Homeland Security Investigations is handling the investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma is prosecuting the case.
"An indictment is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," stated officials.
