The United States has issued a statement condemning recent actions by China against Filipino fishers near Sabina Shoal in the South China Sea. According to the statement, Chinese vessels used water cannons and cut anchor lines of Filipino fishing boats operating in the area.
“These aggressive actions endangered Filipinos fishing for their livelihoods. We stand with our Philippine allies as they confront China’s provocative actions and increasingly dangerous tactics against its neighbors, which undermine regional stability,” the U.S. government said.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the South China Sea, where territorial disputes between China and neighboring countries have led to repeated confrontations. The United States has reiterated its support for the Philippines amid these developments.
