ICE doubles workforce after record-breaking recruitment campaign

ICE has announced that it has hired over 12,000 new officers and employees in less than a year as part of a nationwide recruitment campaign. The agency reported receiving more than 220,000 applications, surpassing its initial goal of hiring 10,000 new personnel within a year. This expansion has resulted in ICE's workforce growing from 10,000 to 22,000 employees.

Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “The good news is that thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill that President Trump signed, we have an additional 12,000 ICE officers and agents on the ground across the country. That’s a 120% increase in our workforce. And that’s in just about four months.”

Many of the newly hired officers are already deployed nationwide and participating in enforcement operations such as arrests, investigations, and removals. The agency noted that this rapid hiring process allowed for faster deployment of officers compared to previous efforts.

The recruitment campaign used data-driven outreach methods to attract qualified candidates from across the United States while maintaining high standards for training and readiness. ICE continues to seek applicants interested in federal law enforcement careers through its website at join.ice.gov.
