U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported a series of arrests over the weekend, targeting individuals identified as criminal illegal aliens convicted of serious crimes such as murder, child sexual abuse, manslaughter, and gang activity in various states.

According to ICE, its officers have experienced significant increases in threats and violence directed against them. The agency stated that assaults on law enforcement personnel have risen by 1,300%, vehicular attacks by 3,200%, and death threats by 8,000%.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the ongoing risks faced by ICE officers: “Even while facing a 1,300% increase in assaults, 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks, and an 8,000% increase in death threats against them, ICE continues to risk their lives to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens who have terrorized American families,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.“While Americans enjoyed their weekends, ICE law enforcement arrested murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and gang members from across the country. We will not let agitators slow us down from making America safe again and getting these heinous criminals out of our country.”

Among those arrested were Nelson Ayala-Gomez from El Salvador for murder in Harris County, Texas; Alfredo Murillo-Fernandez from Mexico for four counts of indecent liberties with a child in Union County, North Carolina; Diego Cardona from Guatemala—a member of the 18th Street gang—convicted for voluntary manslaughter in Los Angeles; Oscar Miguel Argueta-Del Cid from El Salvador for sex abuse of a minor household/family member in Montgomery County, Maryland; Ai Sommay from Laos for lewd act upon a child in San Diego; Jorge Luis Archaga-Ordonez from Honduras for online solicitation of a minor in Conroe, Texas; Darwin Adalberto Damas-Maradiaga from Honduras for assault with a deadly weapon in Corpus Christi; Rony Gudiel Rodriguez-Lopez from Guatemala for assault causing bodily injury in Houston; Hedayatullah Khogyani from Afghanistan for assault causing great bodily injury and mayhem in Orange County; Sergio Gregorio Lopez-Rodriguez from Guatemala for burglary in Bonita Springs; Oscar Fabian Carmen-Conda from Colombia for aggravated assault in Salt Lake City; Jerson David Flores-Casares from Honduras for robbery adjudicated by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia; Daniela Beltran-Rojas from Colombia for identity theft in Temecula; Hector Castillo-Rodriguez from Mexico for bringing in and harboring certain aliens in Laredo; and Dandy Mejia-Guzman also from Mexico for possession of methamphetamine intended for resale.

These arrests took place amid heightened scrutiny regarding public safety concerns associated with individuals residing unlawfully within U.S. borders who have been convicted of violent or serious offenses.
