A former operations manager at a suburban Chicago medical center has been indicted on charges related to an alleged fraud scheme totaling $900,000.
According to an indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, Brandon Getzloff, 42, of Carol Stream, Illinois, is accused of using procurement credit cards from the medical center between 2021 and 2024 to purchase gift cards for personal use and pay his own bills. The indictment states that Getzloff concealed these transactions by making them appear as legitimate business expenses in the company’s management system.
The indictment also alleges that Getzloff committed additional fraud through organizing sports outings. He is accused of soliciting payments from victims by offering luxury golf trips and tickets to college basketball and football games at discounted rates, which he claimed required advance purchase. The funds collected were largely diverted for his personal use rather than used to buy tickets as promised. In some cases, he reportedly used money from new participants or the proceeds from procurement card fraud to pay for earlier events, which helped him attract more participants.
The total amount allegedly obtained fraudulently includes more than $700,000 from the medical center and over $200,000 from those who paid for sports outings.
Getzloff faces eight counts of wire fraud and pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Wednesday in federal court in Chicago. A status hearing before U.S. District Judge Jeremy C. Daniel is scheduled for January 28, 2026.
The announcement was made by Andrew S. Boutros, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI’s Chicago Field Office. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin assisted with the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Heidi Manschreck represents the government.
