Sarasota doctor receives fifteen-year sentence for coercion and production of child sex abuse material

Pete Supan, a 36-year-old resident of Bradenton, Florida, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for coercion and enticement of a minor as well as production of child sex abuse material. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge William F. Jung after Supan pleaded guilty on October 7, 2025.

According to court documents, Supan used an app to contact and coerce a person under the age of 18 into sexual activity. He misrepresented his age as 19 and persuaded the minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating visual depictions. Supan admitted he knew the victim was a minor during their communications.

United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry.

The prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started in 2006 by the Department of Justice that brings together federal, state, and local resources to address child sexual exploitation and abuse cases across the country. The project aims to locate offenders who exploit children online or offline, prosecute them, and provide support for victims.
