House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington issued a statement today in response to new reports from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The updated BEA data showed that the gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.4 percent annually in the third quarter of 2025, while the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index (PCE) increased by 2.7 percent in October and 2.8 percent in November 2025.

Arrington commented on these figures, stating, "Today’s promising economic reports are more proof President Trump’s and Republicans’ America First, pro-growth policies are working. GDP growing at its fastest pace in two years confirms the historic, pro-growth policies enacted in the One Big Beautiful Bill—permanent tax relief, energy deregulation, and reduced federal spending—are spurring private investment and putting more money back into the pockets of hardworking families. While Americans are still recovering from Biden’s self-inflicted affordability crisis, under President Trump, wages are up and outpacing inflation and Americans’ purchasing power has been supercharged."

He continued: "But we’re not done yet. The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) was the first step in reversing Democrats’ fiscal failures and Making America Affordable Again. Now we must finish the job. Reconciliation 2.0 is the most consequential legislative tool available for us to finish what we started in OBBB, make health care affordable again, double down on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, and lock-in Trump’s trade wins."

Arrington concluded his statement with: "We must not shrink back in this historic moment. We must honor our commitment to the American people—who gave us unified Republican leadership—and do everything in our power to Make America Safer, Stronger, and More Prosperous."

The House Budget Committee plays a key role within Congress by managing oversight of federal spending and developing budget guidelines to promote fiscal responsibility through long-term programs and efforts to address budget deficits. The committee is part of the U.S. House of Representatives and includes members from other significant committees, such as Ways and Means and Appropriations.

As chairman of the committee Jodey Arrington oversees its work on annual budget resolutions as well as its use of reconciliation processes to influence fiscal policy decisions. The committee also works closely with agencies like the Congressional Budget Office for independent analyses.

The House Budget Committee was established in 1974 through legislation designed to strengthen congressional control over federal budgeting and continues operations based in Washington D.C.
