Homeland Security panel seeks testimony from ICE, CBP, USCIS leaders in oversight hearing

House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY) has formally requested testimony from senior officials of three key immigration and border security agencies for an upcoming oversight hearing. The invited officials are Todd Lyons, Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE); Rodney Scott, Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP); and Joseph Edlow, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

The hearing aims to review the operations of these agencies and assess their effectiveness in protecting national security.

Chairman Garbarino stated, “As chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, my top priority remains keeping Americans safe and ensuring the Department of Homeland Security can accomplish its core mission. I take my oversight duties for the department seriously, and Congress has an important responsibility to ensure the safety of law enforcement and the people they serve and protect. I am committed to ensuring ICE, CBP, and USCIS are effectively using the historic resources provided through reconciliation to strengthen public safety, and I look forward to each of these agencies testifying before the Committee.”

In his formal request letters to agency leaders, Garbarino wrote: “On January 15, 2026, Committee on Homeland Security (Committee) staff invited you to testify at a hearing regarding oversight of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) components charged with border security and immigration enforcement. Today, I am formally memorializing this previous invitation.”

Earlier in the week, the committee held another oversight hearing featuring testimony from Dr. Madhu Gottumukkala, Acting Director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA); Ha Nguyen McNeill, Acting Administrator for Transportation Security Administration (TSA); and Pedro Allende, Under Secretary for Science and Technology Directorate.
