The U.S. Department of State has announced new visa restrictions on three Haitian officials, including two members of the Transitional Presidential Council and a cabinet minister. The department stated that these individuals have taken actions enabling Haitian gangs, some of which are designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, to destabilize Haiti.

According to the announcement, the restrictions are being implemented under INA 212(a)(3)(C), a provision that generally bars entry into the United States for individuals whose presence or activities could have serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the country. In addition to imposing new visa restrictions, the State Department will revoke any currently valid visas held by these officials and their immediate family members.

"The Trump Administration will continue taking steps to impose these measures against anyone who contributes to the destabilization of Haiti and our hemisphere," according to the statement from the Department of State.

This move is part of ongoing efforts by U.S. authorities to promote accountability among those believed responsible for instability in Haiti and across the region.
