A New Orleans resident, Haven Patterson, 43, was sentenced to 48 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentencing took place on January 29, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Wendy B. Vitter. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle.
Court records indicate that Patterson was found with a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun on February 27, 2025. Patterson is legally barred from possessing firearms due to a previous conviction in Louisiana state court.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation into the case, and Assistant United States Attorney Chandra Menon from the Public Integrity Unit prosecuted it.
