Portland resident pleads guilty to damaging ICE building cameras and setting fire

A Portland resident has admitted to damaging federal property after an incident at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building. Alistair Macfarlane Sidener, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of depredation of government property.

Court documents state that on June 12, 2025, Sidener damaged several surveillance cameras attached to the ICE facility by shooting paint at them with a water gun and hitting them with a metal pole. After damaging the cameras, Sidener set debris on fire against a metal gate.

Sidener was formally charged on January 28, 2026. The charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for May 27, 2026 before a U.S. District Court Judge.

As part of the plea agreement, Sidener will pay full restitution for the damage caused.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
