U.S. Attorney’s Office collects over $5 million in civil and criminal cases for FY 2025

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi reported collecting over $5.29 million in civil and criminal actions during Fiscal Year 2025. The office, led by U.S. Attorney Scott F. Leary, stated that $3.1 million was recovered from criminal cases, while approximately $2.19 million came from civil matters.

Additionally, collaboration with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices and Department of Justice components resulted in the collection of an extra $1,135.59 in criminal actions.

“Two important components of justice concern punishing the offender and making the victim whole,” said U.S. Attorney Leary. “Our restitution laws concern the latter. I want to thank our law enforcement partners who make our restitution program a success. Justice will be served.”

The office also collected $1,172,013 through asset forfeiture actions in Fiscal Year 2025. Funds obtained through asset forfeiture are deposited into the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund and are used to compensate crime victims and support various law enforcement initiatives.
