Tulsa man sentenced to five years for illegal firearm possession

Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma

A man with a history of armed robbery convictions was sentenced in Tulsa for illegally possessing a loaded firearm, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.

Ramsey Nathaniel Hogan, 60, received a sentence of 60 months in prison and three years of supervised release from U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Hogan was arrested nine months after his release from federal prison when United States Marshals found a loaded gun in his waistband during a search related to an outstanding warrant. The warrant had been issued due to his failure to comply with the terms of supervised release.

Court records indicate that between 2001 and 2005, Hogan was convicted on four felony counts involving firearms. In 2005, he pleaded guilty to brandishing a weapon during robberies at an auto parts store and a video store.

Hogan will remain in custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Marshal Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica Wright and Mike Flesher prosecuted the case.
