The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported the arrest of several individuals with criminal convictions in Minnesota over the weekend as part of Operation Metro Surge. The arrests included people convicted of offenses such as sexual assault, cruelty toward a child, and assault.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the operation: “While Hollywood celebrities embarrassed themselves trying to drum up hatred of ICE officers from the Grammys, DHS law enforcement was hard at work arresting sex offenders, child abusers, and criminals convicted of assault in Minnesota. We need Minnesota sanctuary politicians to let us into their jails to arrest these vicious criminals instead of releasing them and allowing them to create more victims. ICE has more than 1,360 active detainers for criminals in Minnesota jails. We are once again calling on Minnesota’s sanctuary politicians to commit to turning these criminals over to ICE.”

Among those arrested were ImageVong Som from Laos, convicted of terroristic threats, sexual assault, and weapons possession; Houa Xiong from Laos, convicted for sexual assault, disorderly conduct, and obstructing police; Charanjit Singh from India, convicted of cruelty toward a child, drug possession, and flight to avoid prosecution; Baltazar Camposeco-Ros from Guatemala, convicted for domestic assault and other violations; Ze Ger Vue from Laos with multiple counts of assault and property damage; Lor Thor from Laos for assault; Minh Tien Quach from Vietnam for robbery and drug trafficking; Ernesto Alexander Dominguez-Cruz from El Salvador for assault-related charges; and Fong Vang from Laos for receiving stolen property.

DHS stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) currently has over 1,360 active detainers for individuals in Minnesota jails. The agency continues its efforts to remove individuals with criminal records who do not have legal status in the United States.
