Clarence man indicted for attempted enticement of minor after undercover operation

A federal grand jury has indicted Daniel Gregory, 33, of Clarence, New York, on a charge of attempted enticement of a minor. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. If convicted, Gregory faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and could receive up to life imprisonment.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan K. Glaberson, the indictment alleges that on January 6, 2025, North Tonawanda Police discovered messages sent by someone named “Daniel Gregory” through Facebook asking other users: “You know any NT teens I could hook up with? 13-16.” Detectives traced these messages back to Gregory.

On January 9, 2025, an undercover officer created a Facebook profile under the name “Alexis Jones” and sent Gregory a friend request which he accepted. Over the following weeks, Gregory allegedly communicated with “Alexis Jones,” whom he believed to be a 12-year-old girl. The communications included repeated attempts to arrange meetings and video calls as well as sending explicit photos of himself. Some conversations were described as sexual in nature.

The indictment states that on February 3, 2025, Gregory arranged to meet “Alexis Jones” at an apartment in the City of Tonawanda for sexual activity. Upon his arrival at the location, detectives from North Tonawanda arrested him and seized his cell phone.

Gregory has a prior conviction from May 2019 for Harassment in the Second Degree after contacting a minor via social media and attempting to start a romantic relationship over two years.

The investigation was conducted by the North Tonawanda Police Department led by Chief Keith Glass and Homeland Security Investigations under Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
