Larry Johnson, 26, was sentenced to 50 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition after firing a pistol inside an apartment in southeast Washington, D.C. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Johnson had previously pleaded guilty on November 5, 2025, before Chief Judge James E. Boasberg to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon. In addition to the prison term, Johnson will serve three years of supervised release.
Court documents indicate that on August 10, 2025, Metropolitan Police officers responded to an incident at the 2200 block of Town Center Drive, SE. Officers found that an altercation had occurred around 11:36 p.m. inside an apartment on the fourth floor. During this incident, Johnson fired a gun twice in the presence of a woman and her two children.
A Springfield-Armory XD-9 Mod.2 Sub-Compact 9mm pistol was recovered from a bedroom closet shelf. Authorities confirmed that Johnson did not have a license to possess a firearm in the District and had previously been convicted of felony robbery in Montgomery County, Maryland.
The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Caelainn Carney.
