Fort Eustis soldier receives 10-year sentence for coercion of minors

A soldier stationed at Fort Eustis has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for coercion and enticement of a child. Court documents state that Brady Beck Fant, 32, used social media to have sexually explicit conversations with underage girls. He also received and sent sexually graphic images and videos involving minors.

The North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children taskforce identified Fant, leading law enforcement to seize his electronic devices. Investigators found child sexual abuse material on these devices.

Fant is currently facing an Other Than Honorable Discharge from the United States Army.

The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s Washington Field Office conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon E.A. Heath prosecuted the case.

According to the press release, "This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
